Pay Code of the Month: SLCIR
SLCIR is an IRD-mandated additional deduction for New Zealand student loans. If you receive a notice from the IRD, we recommend that you add SLCIR as a standard deduction to the employee’s masterfile. When the employee has made sufficient additional payments, the IRD will notify you so you can disable the SLCIR code in the employee masterfile by changing its status to 1. If the IRD notice contains a total amount to recover, you can optionally add this to the Cap. Balance field in the employee masterfile.
Tip
Wondering why you can’t see the * at the end of a mandatory field label? There’s a limit to how long field names can be. It can also depend on available screen space. Go into Administrator > Dictionary/Field Label Editor and shorten the name, then re-check the screen.
